A trap door leading to the attic of Stewart Hall. Notice the first rung is missing. This thing rocked to and fro.

Some bizarre looking valve cover caps in the basement of Stewart Hall. Note that the valve has cracked from the bottle flange through the top of the pipe. Also note the asbestos wrapped pipes losing their peeling institutional green paint. And then finally notice the telephone breakout box to the far left.

I asked myself: can I make it through this underground passageway myself, without a flashlight? I snapped a photo of the hallway and then started the long dark walk down. But I did live to tell about it. I wouldn't do that same walk today because the hallway floors are completely covered in asbestos, left there from when the building was torn up by copper scrappers.
